My passion for technology began in my university days when my roommate, who was also into tech, inspired me. Although I studied computer science in school, I wouldn't say I liked technology until I started playing with HTML and CSS. I was fascinated by how easy it was to create stunning websites with just a few lines of code.
As I delved deeper into web development, I discovered other programming languages like JavaScript, Ruby, Python, PHP, and SQL. I developed my language proficiency through online resources such as Sololearn, where I learned the fundamental concepts of programming languages.
Then one day, I stumbled upon an opportunity to become a software engineer at ALX. I was intrigued by the prospect of learning new skills and expanding my horizons, so I signed up for the program.
The ALX program was a 13-month training that exposed me to various programming languages, including C, Python, SQL, and Ruby. However, my passion was in frontend development, and I focused my attention on the specialization area that covered advanced HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and React. These courses were challenging but rewarding.
The ALX program also introduced me to virtual assistance. I also got into the entire digital marketing program by Google. I earned certifications in both fields, which gave me the knowledge and skills to help clients with their online marketing campaigns and administrative tasks. I also took a course in technical writing by Google, which opened up new possibilities for me in terms of creating content that was informative, engaging, and accessible.
One of the highlights of the ALX program was the portfolio project, which challenged me to create an advice generator using different APIs. I tried various languages and frameworks, including Python-Flask and NodeJS, and had to seek help from my peer to integrate the other APIs. Although the project is still a work in progress, I learned much about teamwork and communication and gained valuable experience building scalable and efficient applications.
After completing the ALX program, I began exploring new avenues for my tech career. I realized that I had a passion for technical writing and decided to focus on creating content that would help others learn about web development and programming. I started publishing technical and non-technical articles on different platforms and received positive feedback from readers who found my content helpful and informative. I also used my knowledge and skills to mentor other techies at ALX and help them with their learning journeys.
Another area that I became interested in was virtual assistance. I loved helping others with their paperwork and administrative tasks, and I found it fulfilling to make their lives easier and more organized. After completing my virtual assistance training, I landed a job as a virtual assistant, and I learned a lot about time management, communication, and problem-solving. I plan to continue exploring this field and helping others with administrative needs.
In conclusion, my journey in tech has been exciting and rewarding. From my humble beginnings with HTML and CSS, I have expanded my horizons and acquired new skills in software engineering, digital marketing, technical writing, and virtual assistance. I am grateful for the opportunities and experiences that have come my way, and I look forward to using my skills to impact the world of technology positively.
